[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 340px;]WORDS 404 TAGGED JAYDEN NOTES N/A “I love you too, Leo. Sweet dreams, babe.” Emily made a smooching noise at the mouthpiece of the payphone before she hung it back on the receiver. It was always hard to say goodbye to Leo because he was such a chatterbox. Emily had left him with the young teenage baby sitter over four hours ago when she came into the club for her shift. It was part of Leo’s regular nightly routine to talk to Emily before he would let the babysitter tuck him into bed and read him to sleep. Emily always felt terrible hanging up with Leo. It gave her a grimy feeling standing in the dressing room of the strip joint, speaking to her four year old son on the dirty payphone; after hanging up she always choked back a sob as she sauntered back toward the bar room. Tonight should have been her night off, but one of the other strippers had family plans or something relatively close to that, so Emily had offered to take the girl’s shift.
The bar was pretty quiet right now, but only because it was early enough in the night. Soon Emily would be switched to cover the floor and escort people to tables and what not. Emily was friendly enough with the owner of the club, so she always managed to stay clear of working on the stage. The only stripper related duties she took on were working the bar and giving private lap dances to the good tipping customers. She didn’t feel good about working here while her son was at home with a babysitter, but it paid the bills. Right now, Emily was barely making ends meet, especially since she was a single mother and doing part-time classes during the day. It was hard, but she always made time to spend with Leo during the day, whether she had only slept a half hour that night. The owner usually let her duck out right before closing hour at 3 AM, unless it was crowded that night.
Emily made her way to the bar counter, her stiletto heels making light clicking noises on the marble floors, barely audible over the thumping sound system. She tapped the girl and let her know it was Emily’s turn for bar duty. As the girl disappeared toward the dressing room, Emily took her stand behind the bar and plastered a friendly smile upon her lips.

of course, jayden did want a relationship at some point in his life. he had a wonderful girl named emily back in high school. they were always on again off again though, and a lot of drama would always stir up between them. jayden had trust issues, and he was very much anti-drama. but he did love her, he loved every second with her when they were together. and about four years ago, they saw each other again. and they slept together. oh my that was the best sex he had ever had. but he wouldn't let anyone know that. he couldn't remember much about it, other that it was good and that it was simply something he couldn't resist for any longer. and he sure did miss her, but they hadn't had contact since that night. it seemed once he went to med school, she disappeared off the planet. it sucked for jayden, since she was the only girl he had ever actually loved. and now he was without her for who knew how long.
he walked into the strip joint and looked around. he was with some friends from the hospital, but he didn't really have any reason to stay with them. after all, what was the point of staying with friends when he could be getting lap dances from someone extremely attractive? he headed to the bar first. he kept his eyes towards the stage where a girl wearing practically nothing was dancing. cat calls were being thrown out left and right. that wasn't jayden's style, but he understood why the cat calls were out there. this girl had a hot body, and he could see himself with her at least once. "just a beer," he said, taking out some money and placing it on the bar. the girl walked off stage, shaking her hips left and right that caught jayden's attention until she left the stage. he finally looked up at the bartender to see someone he noticed. it was emily standing right in front of him. he would recognize that face anywhere. "em?" he asked, just so he could be sure. though he was completely sure it was her. let this shit start! |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 340px;]WORDS 432 TAGGED JAYDEN NOTES N/A Some nights it was hard to keep a smile on, but if Emily wanted the tips, the smile had to stay. She had to turn on the charm and flirt with the people who flirted with her. This past year had been harder with money, juggling part-time law classes, and tending to Leo. She grinned and bared it, always making sure to look happy at work and when she was with Leo. She had lost sleep a few nights, worrying about not having enough cash when it came time to pay the bills, but she always managed to scrounge up something. Of course she thought about calling Jayden all the time, it was often what kept her wide awake at night, lying next to Leo when he was feeling cranky. He looked so much like Jayden, which made it even harder sometimes. She raised her arms and adjusted her hair, fixing a piece that had fallen from her up-do.
She sauntered to the side of the bar where a line had formed, pushing her negative thoughts to the back of her mind and began to take customer’s orders. She fished around for beers, mixed drinks, and kept a smile the entire time. When she made her way to the other end of the bar, her heart nearly dropped as her smile faded. Ordering just a beer was Jayden.
He placed his money on the counter before he looked up. And when he looked up their eyes locked. Emily turned away to quickly grab his beer, an excuse to silently collect herself, but fumbled twisting off the cap. “Em?” He spoke as she gathered his cash and slid the beer in his direction.
“Jayden, hey.” She replied with a small smile. She was happy to see him, but her nerves were taking over. Keeping their four year old son a secret from him had been hard, but she hadn’t seen him since they had slept together four years ago. Now that he was standing here in front of her, she felt guilty. She knew she had to try to get him alone tonight and tell him everything.
The strip club definitely wasn’t the best place for that scenario to go down. It was going to be hard, but Emily knew it had to be done. She leaned her elbows on the counter in front of him and continued to smile. “So, how have you been?” For now, she had to keep it at just old friend catching up on their lives. She was hoping for plenty of time later to drop the bomb. these dry bones cry for you |

"i'm, uh, i'm good," he said, though he didn't really sound too sure about it. he couldn't believe that she was here, and that he could see her again. he was hoping that everything was okay for her, but seeing as she was working at a strip club, it was hard to say that everything was going alright for her. though, he didn't know her situation. he felt the urge to pick her up and sweep her off her feet and to just make everything in her life better. but he couldn't. he was at a strip club for crying out loud. how was that supposed to make her feel? he didn't know for sure. all he knew was that he was not going to have the ideal life with her. he would take her back if he asked, though his friends would probably talk him out of it. it wasn't any of their business, now was it? it was his business and her business and if he wanted that on again relationship with her again, he would have it. though, he doubted that she wanted him. she was beautiful, and he was gone for four years. she probably found someone else who was absolutely stunning and nothing like him at all. who would actually be there for her. she deserved that.
"how have you been?" he asked, turning off his internal monologues. he hated that they seemed to take over, but they were inevitable, and it was a known fact that everyone had them. he kept running through his relationship with em, how he wished he could get it back, holding her, hugging her, kissing her... and everything else. he missed it a lot, because even though he had all those girls while he was at college, none of it was the same as having that one girl that you loved and wanted to take care of all the time. and that was em to him. he hadn't found someone quite like her, and he would never show how much he missed her. he wanted to just... take care of her. he didn't know if he would go as far as saying he wanted to marry her, since he really wasn't the commitment type, but he definitely felt something like that. and who knows what could happen. jayden sure didn't. he just lived in the present, and what he knew right now was that he needed em back in his life, and this was the perfect time to do it. let this shit start! |
