with a quick click of the button on the top of his iphone, he began texting. he scrolled through all of the people he could possibly ask to help him and landed on one name: levi moore. the guy had been his best friend through drunken and sober times. aj was sure that he wasn't working down at the restaurant, so he shot him a quick text. wanna do me a huge favor and pick me up some super greasy food? this hangover is not gonna get rid of itself. he hit the button to send and just rested on the couch waiting. aj felt entirely too helpless for his own good.
turning on the television, the volume invaded his ears. he had forgotten to turn it down after watching some random action movie the other day. furiously pressing the minus on the remote control, he finally found a level that was reasonable for his sensitive head. every time he got a raging hangover like this, andrew vowed he would know when to stop drinking, but he always let people push him around and make mystery shots for him if someone offered. he never knew when to stop because he didn't want to seem like a wimp to his buddies. he also had a huge fear of letting them down. it was going to be his downfall eventually, but it was a hard habit to break.

a late night working at a dinner party as a caterer had caused levi to collapse into bed still in his serving uniform not bothering to set his alarm as he finally had a day off. between the shifts at the restaurant and the shifts working for a wealthy family in town it was a rare case that he had a day off but it was a much needed once since the following day he had to be at the restaurant as six a.m. he didn’t mind for the most part though he liked working at the restaurant and he liked the people he worked with. things could be much worse then they were, for that he was grateful. opening his eyes to the sunlight he rolled over in bed squinting at the red numbers on the alarm clock seeing it was just past one in the afternoon. not bad if you asked him. forcing himself into a sitting position he rubbed his eyes grabbing his smokes making it way onto his balcony to have a quick smoke. rubbing the sleep out of his eyes he pulling a cigarette out of the package and light it taking a drag looking down at the street. it wasn’t very busy which didn’t surprise him. he lived in a small apartment in the crappy part of town but their was rarely any disturbances. the only shop on the street was the convinces store which was basically put there for the people living in the surrounding apartments. he didn’t mind it though. it wasn’t an ideal place to live but it was better then a lot of the other apartments he had seen when he was looking. once he was done his smoke he made his way back into his bedroom putting his smokes back on his bedside table walking into his kitchen grabbing a bowl and dumping some cereal in along with the rest of the milk he had in his fridge and then retired to the couch to watch tv. not the best way to spend a day off but he didn’t mind. watching tv was a easy way to kill time and before he knew it, it was after four. taking his bowl to the sink he heard a small beep telling him he an in incoming text message grabbing his phone he read the message from aj and sighed smiling slightly. at least some things never changed. hitting the reply button on his blackberry he started to write a quick reply. alright, but you owe me one. ill be there soon. after sending the message he managed to have a five minute shower and change into some jeans and a shirt and grabbing his wallet, smokes, and keys he headed out the door locking it behind him.
if it had been anyone else to text him and ask to bring him food because of a hangover levi would have laughed in his face. but he knew aj and he guessed people kept giving him drink after drink and aj being aj just accepted them. he was actually surprised he was even up. making his way to his car he got in putting his seatbelt on and starting it up before driving towards aj’s apartment. once he was relatively close he stopped by at the first fast food restaurant he could find and ordered some food going through the drive through because at the moment it was the easiest thing to do. once he was done and had the food he drove to aj’s parking his car in the parking lot and grabbed the food heading up . making it to the door he knocked and then figuring it would be a miracle to get him up and walking tried the door seeing it was open and walked in seeing him laying on the couch. “speaking from experience im guessing you didn’t unlock your door when you managed to get out of bed so im guessing its been unlocked all night” says to him walking over and sitting on the couch tossing him the bag of food. “one day someone is going to come in and rob you because you forgot to lock your door, again” says looking at the tv then back at him. “what the hell are you watching, aj” grabs the remote changing the channel to something he liked before slouching back resting his arm on the top of the couch.

andrew had zoned out on some random television show about hunting for ghosts. he could have just fallen asleep again, then and there, but he forced his eyes to stay open because he knew that levi was headed over with something to settle his churning stomach. the people on the tv made this supposedly haunted house seem a lot more haunted than it probably was. andrew was all for ghosts and believing in spirits and the like, but a door closing? honestly? it was probably just the air. his show was interrupted when levi entered the room. yup, apparently aj had managed to leave his door unlocked yet again. he was never one for logical things when he was drunk. "you realize that managing to actually close the door behind me last night was an accomplishment in itself." he joked, laughing as the fast food bag landed in his lap. the smell of fried food filled his nostrils and he felt satisfied that something was actually going to enter his stomach.
aj was too tired to even protest with levi when he changed the channel. "i was watching ghost hunters." aj responded. "i needed to know if that plantation was haunted so i can stay as far away from it as possible." he saw the channels change as levi switched through them. his friend was making himself comfortable on the couch while aj finally decided to sit up. he still slumped over the bag of food as he opened it up, releasing scents into the air. "oh greasy goodness, come to papa." he smiled while pulling a container of french fries out of the bag. they had spilled inside of their paper container from when levi threw it, but aj didn't mind. he began stuffing the food into his mouth as if he never saw food in his life before. "so, what were you up to last night? i missed you at the party, man."

levi was never the type to over drink. her rarely had hangovers because he knew when to stop. of course he also could drink more then aj could without it affecting him. the worst thing he did was smoke which tons of his friends and family members had tried to get him to quit but he was stubborn. he figured he was going to die anyways might as well indulge in something while he was still young and his body could handle it. he’d quit years down the road when his doctor told him to, for now smoking was away to deal with life’s stress. hearing aj’s response to the door a smile appeared on his face. it was true that he’d been lucky enough to close the door, that’s how it always happened. especially when levi didn’t go out with him. levi tended to scare people off from messing with aj. he guessed people just liked seeing aj completely smashed considering he was hilarious drunk, but still he needed to learn when enough was enough. “one of these days your going to wake up to an empty apartment to find all your things stolen when you were passed out on the ground from drinking too much, all because you forgot to lock the door to your apartment” smirks slightly shaking his head. he swore this was going to happen. he didn’t know anyone who forgot to lock their doors as much as he did. levi rolled his eyes shaking his head at what he had been watching. “did you find out if the scary ghosts were in the plantation” smirks slightly shaking his head. levi hated all types of shows like that, he had no idea how they even managed to stay on air. of course then he remembered the amount of people that would believe whatever they heard and saw, even if the whole thing was staged.
when he finally picked a show he set the converter on the table watching aj start to eat his food. “you know that stuff will kill you one day, you should learn to make yourself food, or get rich and famous and hire a personal chef” smirks slightly. levi didn’t usually eat out unless it was a dire circumstance but he had brought aj his fair share of greasy food. “next time ill just bring leftovers from my place instead of buying you that” says knowing full well he wouldn’t he had probably sad that over a dozen times but he never remembered to bring aj any of the meals he cooked for himself unless aj asked for it personally. hearing his next question he yawned slightly leaning back against the couch. “I picked up a shift at my other job, the people I work for were holding a dinner party so I was there till around twelve finishing clean up and then I just went home and crashed instead of going out” tells him looking over at him. “maybe I should have come if I would have known you’d be in this state’ running his fingers through his hair slightly. “did you take some advil or anything for the headache” asks him.

"i'm sure whoever steals from me needs my shit more than i do." leave it to him to always look on the bright side of life. if his television and game consoles were gone in the morning, he would be upset for all of a minute before shaking it off and realizing that they're just material possessions and can always be bought back. there were very few things in andrew's place that had significant value to him and if they were possessions that were close to his heart, he made sure to keep them hidden. all of the little seemingly stupid things that his mom picked up for him on her work ventures were all in a locked box underneath his bed. even if someone had found them, they would think they were merely trinkets from places he'd visited and leave them along. "i've got too much crap in here anyway." he was a typical guy. the living space that he had designated in his studio style dorm was swarmed with at least five different gaming systems. two was enough, but aj had to bring all of his stuff to school.
"and no, but i'm pretty sure it was." aj remarked about ghost hunters. "i will be sure to stay as far away from flagler county as possible." he laughed a little bit, knowing his strange belief in ghosts was unreasonable to levi. his friends was too logical and brutally honest for his own good, but that was how aj liked him. they were best friends because they possessed qualities that contrasted each other.
when levi started on aj's fast food problem, the boy cocked an eyebrow. "this is an emergency situation, levi." he faked seriousness in his voice. hangovers were nothing to be meddled with. if greasy burgers and fries were the only cure aj could get, he'd take it. "i can cook things for myself. cereal and ramen are specialties of mine." he joked, knowing full well that he couldn't cook at all. he usually got distracted and messed something up completely. he had attempted to make a cake for his mom one year, but completely omitted the sugar for the recipe. needless to say, they still laugh about it to this day. aj listened to his friend talk about his other job while he bit into the hamburger in his hand. aj was amazed by all the stuff his buddies did. andrew was just a boring server, everyone else had cool jobs. "i'm surprised i didn't call you or the other guys complaining that you weren't there." aj usually never went out without one of his best friends. there were three guys in his life that he was rarely seen without, but last night, none of them were there.
"of course i didn't take an advil." andrew said, mouth half full. "pain killers are for pussies!" he laughed, swallowing the food the had remained in his mouth. aj wasn't even sure if he had any aspirin lying around his house. he usually just slept the hangover away or ate food like he was now. he was sure that a gallon of water was the only way to actually get rid of a throbbing headache that was created from drinking.

with his eyes still watching the tv he heard aj’s comment and rolled them turning to look at him. aj was too selfless for his own good. he was all for charity and helping people that need it but aj would probably give every last penny to someone and end up with nothing before he would see someone else suffer. not to mention he was definitely not materialistic. that was one thing they actually had in common. neither of them cared about possessions. sighing he shook it off decided not to answer that. it wouldn’t matter what he said aj would still look at things as optimistically as he could. hearing his next started levi laughed slightly looking around. it was true that he had a lot of crap but that didn’t really matter. “you know your too optimistic for your own good” mutters to him shaking his head/ of course aj could always counter that levi was a pessimist. which was true. he was always looking a the worst outcome of things. of course he’d counter her was a realist. what person wouldn’t absolutely freak out if everything in their apartment had been stolen. he sure as hell would. and after he had his melt down he’d probably hunt the person down. listening to him talk about the supposedly haunted place he smirked slightly “well I guess I know where to take you for your birthday then” says with a laugh. he really couldn’t understand people who believed in spirits or ghosts. as far as he was concerned when you were dead you were dead. there was no after life or ghosts or anything. you were just dead. once more people started realizing that they would just learned to accept it and not go on about how scared they were to face god’s punishment.
seeing him attempt a serious face levi laughed shaking his head. “you know eventually your going to have to learn how to actually cook, or at least find a girl that’s willing to cook for you” levi knew how to cook. it was the only thing other then music that he was actually good at. when he had been living at home he had usually done the cooking so that his parents could deal with his siblings who were all a hassle. on both sides. of course he loved them but one hour babysitting and he was ready for a nap. listening to him talk he nodded agreeing with aj. “you could have and it wouldn’t have mattered, it was off and I forgot it at home anyways ” smirks slightly with a shrug. he really didn’t even know why he kept the phone. he rarely answered it. it was more in case of an emergency. he always checked it after work in case but if you were texting him, good luck in getting a response it took ages for him to actually see the text unless he was home with nothing to do, like today. “your lucky my phone was even on today” smirks slightly knowing no one else probably would have came over just to bring him food. hearing his next comment he rolled his eyes “painkillers are for people like you who don’t know when to say enough is enough” adds giving him a look.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i54.tinypic.com/2vafwqd.jpg), border: solid #ffffff 5px; width: 400px; height: 500px;] the twenty year old boy only shrugged at his friend's comment. yeah, aj was too optimistic and sometimes that got him into trouble, but it was better than being cynical about everything. levi wasn't necessarily pessimistic about life, he looked more on the realistic side, which aj appreciated. everyone needs a friend that can balance them out like that. aj goes too far and levi pulls him back. never in a rude or mean way, it was more like a nudge in the right direction. andrew was sure he had the same effect on his friend, creating more of a positive outlook to his realistic nature when he was around. andrew didn't want to judge anyone else's outlook on life. it wasn't his place. he never knew exactly how a person came to view the world that way. andrew could probably tag his optimism on his mother. she had him at a very young age and managed to make everything in her life work for her through hope and perseverance. that's how he hoped to one day be. in the back of his mind, he wondered how she was coping with the death of her fiance. he would be sure to call her later.
"i swear, if you take me there for my birthday, i will throw you in and lock you inside." his threat was completely empty. he knew that levi would probably do that to him first. he wouldn't go without a fight though. even though andrew was a pacifist, when it was in a joking matter, he could rough house with the boys every once and a while. "and don't even think about doing a seance or anything. that shit's real." he pointed straight at his friend and shot him a look. aj had seen enough horror movies to know that the outcome of an ouija board was never a good one. paranormal activity was the end all- be all for demon interaction.
"well, looks like i'll just have to learn myself then." andrew sighed, making a joke about the fact that he was so single at the moment. aj was too friendly to everyone. he never could tell if a girl liked him or was just being nice to him like a friend should. he probably gave of those signs as well. yeah, he liked fauna, but he wasn't too sure if she shared the same feelings for him. he highly doubted it. levi had probably met fauna before too since they all worked at the same restaurant, but he wasn't sure if levi knew about aj's feelings towards her. levi always seemed to have girl crawling over him. it was probably the bad boy image. andrew couldn't be a bad boy if he tried. the poor guy wouldn't even harm a fly. "and yes, i was probably the luckiest guy alive." he mentioned, holding a french fry triumphantly in the air. "who knows where i would be right now without you." aj would probably still be in bed. or still watching ghost hunters, slumped over and being a poor excuse for a human being.
aj clenched his jaw slightly at levi's comment. the kid never knew when to stop drinking. that was his own demon, his own downfall. levi knew that and looked out for him most of the time, but last night, he wasn't there. it wasn't like a hangover was avoidable when it came to drinking, it just may not have been as bad if his friend was there. "okay then, i'll have to obtain some advil for the next party then." aj shrugged, knowing he was probably going to drink just as heavily next time. unless someone physically tore the drink from his hand, he was going to continue. it was a terrible vice to have.

a smile appeared on levi’s face at aj’ comment. it was always hilarious to tease him about the supernatural. levi didn’t believe it one bit but aj on the other hand. smiling to himself he thought about all the different things he could do. “if you locked me in there id take a nap or something, have a day off, in a place by yourself, I could use a bit to catch up on my sleep” smirks being serious. if he had been locked in a supposedly haunted house that probably exactly what he would do. haunted house’s were only for those that believed, him not being one of them he’d be completely fine. locking aj in one thought might be a bit hysterical he’d have to keep that on his list for halloween. hearing his friend lecture him about a séance he gave him a mischievous grin. “don’t worry im saving that for that day when the veil between this world and the other is thin” says with a very serious face. one day he was going to call aj over and have him walk in when he was calling to the ‘dead’ it would probably be the most hilarious thing he’ ever seen. he could just imagine it now. smiling at that though he turned to him as he listened to him about the cooking and smirked. “girlfriends aren't all they are cracked up to be anyways” says thinking of juls for a minute. “my last girlfriend didn’t cook for me either, she was pretty much a waste of my time” mutters his eyes darkening for a second before he plastered a smile back on his face. “hey the girls I see now cook for me before they leave, I can lend you one, you get the benefits of having a girlfriend without having a whiney complaining attention seeking girl taking up all your time” says to him looking back at the tv.
looking over at his friend he saw him hold his French fry up triumphantly and rolled her eyes shaking his head. “next time I run out of smokes and am too lazy to walk across the street I know who to call” smirks. of course that would probably be in like a day or so considering he was always too lazy to get smokes. he always did though since he wouldn’t be able to last a shift at work without having at least two smokes. he’ probably want to kill everyone by the end of the shift if it wasn’t for his smoking. bad habit but it still had the desired effect. “you’d probably be in bed or freaking out about a news haunted house where creaks follow you when you walk’ smirks slightly. grabbing the remote again he changed the channel scrolling through absentmindedly before sighing seeing there really was nothing on. “yeah you probably should invest in advil then” says leaving it on a sports channel.

"well, you are a braver man than i am." what he said was true. when it came to the things that bump in the night, aj wasn't exactly the guy to call up to save anyone from it. sure, the guy loved a horror movie as much as the next person, but he would always be on his toes right after, scared that something had followed him from the big screen. it was kind of a strange thing for aj to be afraid of, considering halloween was his absolute favorite holiday. he always got dressed up in the most creative costume imaginable and got completely hammered at a party around miami. one year, he was road kill. animal ears, fake blood, and tire marks. possibly his best idea to date. "i'm warning you! don't come crying to me when you find yourself possessed one day." aj warned, but then thought for a minute. "actually, don't come to me at all! i'm probably highly susceptible to possession as well…" his voice trailed of with a legitimate concern. if real live people could make aj do just about anything, a ghost most certainly could.
"you know i couldn't do that." aj stated. the boy wasn't exactly one to use others, so one night stands were pretty much out of the question. it would be nice to have someone around every once and a while. aj was an affectionate guy. especially when he was drunk. he would kiss a girl here and there at a party, but he would never take them home. andrew knew his limits there. if anything extremely intimate was to ever go on, it would be with someone he was in a committed relationship with. "but i am highly considering getting a personal chef." he joked, knowing fully well that he was alright living off of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the rest of his life. food wasn't a big deal. if he could make it, he would. aj didn't need a thousand recipes in his arsenal, like levi did.
aj sighed a little bit, knowing that was the least he could do for his friend if he had just got him food. the guy didn't like supplying his friend's bad habit, but he assumed he would quit it eventually. it was never that bad to him. aj was used to being around people that smoked weed and cigarettes. hell, he had been a pot head himself for quite some time. cigarettes too. the first two years of school, he had experimented with some hardcore drugs, but he pulled himself away, knowing it would be for the best. "i got you, man." aj smiled, letting his friend know he was fully committed to handing back the favor he did for him today. it was the least he could do. even if levi had done nothing for him, aj knew he would have hopped right up and done whatever he had asked. andrew merely shook his head at levi's next comment. he was not going to let this ghost thing down, now was he? he kept his eyes content on the changing channels for a moment before getting up and heeding to the kitchen area of the apartment.
the only thing that separated the living area from the kitchen was a countertop. aj poured himself a glass of water, knowing he was going to need to hydrate as much as possible. "you want anything in here? aj offered, leaning on the cold top of the counter, palms grasping the side, arms fully extended.
