She was meant to be working soon but whatever, she didn’t care anymore. If they wanted to, they could fire her and she would find another job, she was sure she would do since she was pretty and had her ways. She wasn’t manipulative but she certainly could be persuasive, she knew all the tricks in the book. She could never pass up the chance to hang out with her friends, she would just make sure to keep on the down low so she wasn’t seen or caught by anyone she worked with and that would not be cool. She looked around for something to wear. Her room was a mess but she didn’t care. In fact, there wasn’t a lot that she cared about recently because she was out of school and she was kind of not bothered about stuff. She loved being able to have more time with her friends but for some reason she was just a bit bummed out and she didn’t know why, well she did...it was the fact that she was sick of people at work that she served. She knew shopping and hanging out with friends would definitely help, why wouldn’t it? She could always rely on her friends to cheer her up. But sadly they weren’t always around at work so she had to deal with the customers she hated on her own. She kept thinking about quitting, nearly everyday but she didn’t quite know what she would do after that, she needed to find a new job and THEN quit.
She texted Orla to let her know she was on her way. Brooke may come across as a bit of a bitch sometimes but one thing she loved unconditionally were her friends, she would always protect them, maybe she could be a little too protective at times but that was just who she was. She couldn’t help but be like that and show attitude if someone did or said something to hurt her friends her attitude would switch from being nice to bitch in seconds, she would do the same for her family too since her brother and sister were all very close but not so much to her parents, which was why she lived with her brother. She figured it was for the best since they had been getting along better in the last year when she moved out which she liked in a way, she had never wanted to not talk to her parents or for it to be awkward and weird between them all, but she couldn’t help that she liked to party. She was fully moved out now, they had even made her room into a guest room much to her dismay, that had kinda hurt.
She saw Orla in the distance and waved to her before brushing past the crowds to get to her EXCUUUUSE ME! she said annoyed to people that just would not budge. She finally got to her friend and went straight to give her a hug. I swear, some people are so rude she rolled her eyes. Okay so she was being a little unreasonable, and she was impatient, VERY impatient and that was just one of her many endearing qualities. Her friends and family had learnt to deal with it and also had learnt to love her for it as well. Anyway, how are you sweetie? she asked as they moved through the crowd Should we go get something to eat now or do a little shopping do you think? she asked her. Brooke didn’t mind what they did, she could eat now as she was a little hungry but then again she could easily do a little shopping and then eat later, either way she didn’t mind, she would leave it up to her friend and let her decide what she wanted to do.

Orla smiled to herself as she pushed her laptop away from her. She did a big over-the-head stretch and wiggled around. Orla was extremely excited to see her friend, she felt so lonely because most of her friends were out gallivanting the world and she stayed home because she could not afford to go on expensive whirlwind vacations. Orla sincerely missed her friends and wished that they could stay home like she did and they could hang around Miami and do fun things. Well, technically, Orla was taking classes during the summer but it didn’t matter she was doing just fine in them. Suddenly, she realized that she wasn’t even dressed and scrambled around her tiny room to find clothes that were wearable; admittedly she hadn’t done laundry in a while.
After throwing together a crazy outfit she scrambled around looking for her wallet, purse and phone. Perhaps she should have been more ready when asking Brooke to hang out. Finally, after fifteen minutes of running around she ran out of her apartment, locked the door and raced down the stairs. Truthfully, Orla didn’t have the nicest apartment in Miami and it wasn’t in the best neighborhood, but it was by no means the worst, she liked it though. Her friends from school thought it was a “shady†area, it just wasn’t as ritzy as they were used to. The best thing about it, was that she was really close to all the shopping- even in the hot Miami sun she could risk walking to stores and would feel just fine.
Orla felt her phone vibrate and her hand flew to her bag to read the text. “Shit.†Brooke was already on her way! Well, Orla was as well, but Brooke was a speed demon. Not wanting to sweat, because she forgot a hair-tie, she slowed her pace a little as the streets got more crowded with tourists and locals out for an afternoon of shopping. What Orla loved best about Miami was all the people who were there, especially all the hot guys on baseball teams that flew down for tournaments in the summer. Because she was so small, Orla generally squeezed through crowds without a problem, but today everything was so packed she had to actually excuse herself.
‘This is what New York City must be like’ she thought, rolling her eyes. The Tampa native had not been further north than Virginia, seeing New York City was a huge dream of hers, but probably not in the winter. Being from the south she preferred the heat, even if it made her hair somewhat unruly. Someone, rudely, brushed past her and she stumbled a little. “Hey, watch it†she screamed after the person who had been so rude. Saying this, however, caught the attention of people in front of her and they quickly shuffled to the side. They probably weren’t used to being yelled at, or maybe they were, Orla didn’t really care to find out.
After what seemed like an eternity she made her way through most of the crowd, to a busier area and began to search for Brooke. She kept her eyes trained on the crowd for her friend. Orla knew if she stood there she’d be in the way, so she kept a slow pace, looking. She heard a familiar voice and turned around to see Brooke squeezing through the crowds, a big smile formed on Orla’s face. Finally, her friend reached her and they embraced, it felt like it had been forever. “Oh trust me, I had to yell at some guy for walking straight into me.†She rolled her eyes, some people were just so rude.
Orla looked around and tried to decide, quickly, if eating or shopping was the best idea. It was pretty early to eat, but the shopping looked like it was going to be a hassle. “I’m really not that hungry yet, let’s shop now and I can work up my appetite.†Orla wiped a strand of hair out of her face and scanned the crowd, which would be the best tactical approach to getting out of this mess? “Do you have anywhere in mind, I just wanted to squander my little bit of savings from the school year.†If there was one thing that Orla was bad at, it was saving money.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,10,true][atrb=style, background-color: #423c42;,true][cs=2] & YOU'RE NOT EVEN HUMAN ` YOU'RE JUST A LOVELY IDEA OF ONE WHO I ACCIDENTALLY LOVED AND GAVE EVERYTHING TO BECOME THE GIRL ON THE PIANO BENCH SINGING ALL OF HER TEARS - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - away | [atrb=width,240] what is with people around here lately she scoffed it's like they have been raised by wolves she commented no fucking manners at all she said. god she rolled her eyes at some guy who just barged passed. She didn't understand why people were so rude, in her opinion, rudeness didn't get anyone anything. Okay well she could be a little bit rude sometimes, but she wasn't rude like that, and she could usually get what she wanted because of her looks. Some women would find that degrading but she found it fun, she loved teasing the guys and flirting. It was one of her favourite pass times, and usually even more fun when she had her friends around her and they were all doing it too.
Brooke seemed to have friends who were pretty similar to her, they were just out to have fun, and not into any sort of commitment, at least not yet anyway. Se would settle down eventually when it suited her. It wasn't like she only had one night stands, she actually preferred the regular hook ups if she was honest, made her feel less cheap, not that she thought herself as cheap, but she didn't want to get a reputation of being a whore. She knew her family would disapprove of that as well. Plus the fact that she couldn't really bring guys back to her place kind of limited things, well she could but it was her brothers place mainly and she thought it was weird, and also not really appropriate. She had morals. Plus there was Sophia, who often came into her room or her brothers room at night to snuggle. If the little girl came in her room and realised that she had a guy in her bed, that wouldn't be awkward at all. Plus she would be in a lot of trouble with her brother. It wasn't worth risking really.
Brooke nodded okay well whatever she said with a smile. She was happy to do that since she wasn't that hungry yet either. that's a good idea she nodded actually it's a great idea, working up an appetite was always a good idea in Brooke's mind. She did love food, and she liked shopping too, but she did always seem to eat a lot. People would comment on how on earth she stayed so slim and slender, she never seemed to show signs of gaining weight, however Brooke would disagree. Even though there were no signs of her gaining weight. no where in particular she replied. I think just mooching around sounds like a good idea to me she smiled although you do know how much I love to check out the models at Abercrombie and Fitch. Maybe we should go there first for a different kind of appetite she giggled. Brooke would happily spend all day in that store if she had the chance.

Orla nodded in agreement. People had become so rude recently, that she could hardly stand it. It was probably because they were in a big city and there were tourists and the locals who didn’t give a damn. People in Tampa, Orla’s hometown, seemed much more calm. They were definitely nicer than the people in Miami. But Orla definitely wasn’t home anymore- and she had given up on living at home. It was hard to live under her parent’s rule but she did enjoy an occasional weekend home.
One of the reasons Orla loved having Brooke as a friend, was because Brooke wasn’t afraid to tell it how it was. She also had a great sense of humor and was as non-committed as Orla. Orla couldn’t give a damn about most things- well now she cared about academics, but mostly she was a free spirit. When Brooke said she had no idea, Orla racked her brain for somewhere to shop. Fortunately, Brooke beat her to an idea and suggested Abercrombie and Fitch. Orla wasn’t a fan of the store as much as she was a fan of the male models. Truthfully, the dim lighting and strong smell of cologne reminded Orla of a teen club. On the flip side, the guys were too good not to look at.
“Sounds absolutely perfect to me!” she exclaimed, clapping her hands together in excitement. “I seriously hope the high school girls aren’t out in full force, though.” Orla rolled her eyes, the girls who shopped at A&F (in her opinion) were trashy and had no morals. But, it could be due to the fact that Orla was raised in a wholesome family, that didn’t believe in a lot of the things that Orla now did. That probably contributed to some of the rift between herself and her parents.
Orla began to slither through the crowds, occasionally looking over her shoulder to see if Brooke was close by. Once she was at the street corner, she waited for her friend before crossing. “So, tell me something new. I have no exciting stories.” Truthfully, Orla had been quite busy all summer with her classes and job that she didn’t have any time to meet anyone new. She had been itching to do something fun and exciting, meet a random boy and do something fun. But, Miami was a big and dangerous place and Orla wasn’t always comfortable going to clubs and places alone at night.
