SHE KNOWS HOW TO TREAT A BROTHER RIGHT [style=width: 294px; height: 300px; text-align: justify; color: 272727; font-family: Trebuchet MS; font-size: 9px; overflow: auto;]Believe it or not, being up this early was a common occurrence for the boy, regardless of the heavy partying the night prior, a perk from working in a bar no doubt. Having been there for two years now, he had to be the only one to stick around for that length of time, and it was no wonder his boss hadn't fired him yet as he made a quick pit stop just as inventory arrived. Not hesitating to make himself useful, Rae grabbed a couple cases, the heavy load slightly awkward to carry, though his muscles had grown accustomed to it. He wander into the bar, making his way behind the counter, though he was stopped as a hand was placed on his shoulder, and not shortly after they were moved to the boxes. A devilish smirk pull at the corner of his mouth at the sight of the older lady as he cross his arms, head tilting to one side. The woman set the boxes down on the counter, smoker sounding voice reaching his ears, "I don't want to see your fine ass until tonight. Now piss off" she croaked, and Rae lightly huffed a chuckle out, turning on his heel and leaving. "Y'know, I was on my way to get you a coffee" he call over his shoulder before turning back around once more, walking steadily backwards. She flipped him the bird in response, and Rae couldn't help but laugh as he spin back around and exit the bar.
No more than a couple blocks away was the best coffee shop in town. Not only for it's incredible beverages, but the space it's self was warm and homey, lush chairs and couches, thick darkly stained tables. It was just in general a nice place to be. The door chimed as he walk in, his casual gaze steady on the line ahead. A familiar face behind the counter caught his gaze, and as the brunette gave him a shy smile, he, of course, gave his signature smirk back. Her cheeks flushed and Rae couldn't help but love it, and as she held up an empty coffee cup and mouthed 'the usual?' he mentally added a check mark to the list. Oh yes. He could get used to this. He gave a quick wink before motioning over to let her know he was going to take a seat to wait. He excuse himself from the line-up only to have his attention caught by a pretty blonde. Of course, there were dozens of pretty blondes, or rather, pretty girls in the shop right now, though the way this blonde was bent over her studies, completely engrossed in her work only made him want to interrupt and be, well, typical Rae. He covered the ground, making himself at home as he plunk into the chair across from her, playing it casual as he look out the window, stealing a quick downward glance at her studies, though he quickly avert his eyes back to the window, watching the passing by traffic. How long could he keep the silence if she didn't say anything?
notes; figured i'd keep 'er short and sweet. that okay?

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] WHEN SHE WAS JUST A GIRL, SHE EXPECTED THE WORLD The Words: 458 The Outfit: here The Notes sorry for the rushed post lovely The warm liquid of her fourth coffee burnt it's way down her throat as Lily finished off yet another coffee. She'd resorted to forgoing the sugar with her beverage assuming the caffeine would hit her instantly without it. She was wired, having spent the entire night studying for an upcoming test. Hours had gone by, filled in by the flipping of pages, dozens of post-it notes and frantic highlighting. Most college students pulled a few all nighters like this one, it came with the territory but Lily was a regular to these practices. Her schedule was always full and if it wasn't? She found something to fill it up with. It was like free time was her worst enemy. Assignments, cheerleading, student council, charity galas, fun runs. The list of the moment was endless.
As soon as the sun had come out, she'd gathered up her belongings and make a bee line for her apartments front door. It was getting depressing being in her home for that long and people were constantly calling her to make her come out. As silly as it sounded she needed the peace and quiet that could only be found at her favorite coffee place. People may have been filing in and going about their own conversations but the best was that they never bothered you. Especially when you were surrounded by books and looked like you were on a serious mission. She looked over her shoulder for a moment, signaling to the girl behind the counter that she needed a refill before staring intently at her page again.
All these nights with out sleep were starting to have their effect. Concentrating seemed to be getting harder and harder and she was pretty sure she'd have to re-do her current paper because as she re-read it, she realized how stupid it was starting to sound. More of a B+ and that just wasn't acceptable. Carrying away in her own little world it took her far too long to realize that someone had sat across from her. Her eyes darted up to take a look at whoever the rude character was and she was even more surprised to see she had no idea who it was. Honestly, she wanted to tell him to go away and find his own space but no matter how sleep deprived she was, she'd never been able to bring herself to being rude to someone else. "Can I help you?" she asked, trying to sound polite and disguise the disgruntlement in her voice. She needed a break, that didn't mean she was going to take one. Her eyes looked around the cafe noting various empty seats and she looked back over to him with a raised eyebrow. |

SHE KNOWS HOW TO TREAT A BROTHER RIGHT [style=width: 294px; height: 300px; text-align: justify; color: 272727; font-family: Trebuchet MS; font-size: 9px; overflow: auto;]Leave it to Rae to not give a shit what people think of him, his flippant gestures and attitude seeming to come out even more in a familiar environment...and considering Miami has been his home all throughout his twenty-three years, he was pretty much comfortable anywhere. At the sound of the girls voice, Rae looked her way, watching as she eyed empty seats before looking back at him. He held back the laugh that wanted to spill out, though instead, very plainly replied, "No...thanks though" and went about his business. No sooner after though, the girl behind the counter brought his cup of coffee, pausing at the table, eyeing them both before hesitantly setting the cup down. "Ah, you're a doll," he thanked, and the girl once again blushed and went back to her duties behind the counter. He gingerly sipped at the hot liquid, the taste so divine he just couldn't hold back, "Holy shit, that is so good" he exclaimed, his eyes moving back over to the blonde, "You want one? I'll get you one" he didn't bother waiting for a reply as he catch the same girls attention, motioning for one more. "Trust me, kid, you look like you need one," he mused, though he hadn't exactly thought it through, unafraid how she'd take it.
His eyes stay fixed on the girl, an odd sense of familiarity coming over him. Had he seen her in here before? Rae wasn't one to sit down and read a book while drinking his coffee, taking notes of others around him, and very rarely did he meet friends here, after all, this was his place of solitude, and he didn't want to share it, but still, the blonde did look familiar, and he couldn't help but inquire. "You're here often, aren't you?" it was more of a statement than an actual question, though his curiosity still consumed him. She was attractive, he was flirt, she seemed focused, he was a dick and wanted to break it. Just the way it worked. Thoughts were interrupted as the girl dropped off the other coffee, though he simply offered a nod in thanks, his fixation now focused on the blonde. He paid no attention to how the waitress reacted, instead he set the cup in front of the blonde. "Seriously. I'm not a big sweet fan, but it's so bloody good," he take another sip of his, hands wrapping around the warm mug, resting it back on the table, his overall posture rather relaxed and casual.
notes; pshhh. you think yours is rushed? >.< -headdesk- fail.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] WHEN SHE WAS JUST A GIRL, SHE EXPECTED THE WORLD The Words: 458 The Outfit: here The Notes works been killing me, you won't have to wait this long again. promise! Lily had been raised to handle just about any social situation with poise, grace and elegance. She was always ladylike and always sweet. This morning however she wasn't feeling entirely herself and the stress building up was making her snappier than ever. Then again considering she was always overly nice, today's behavior probably seemed normal to an outsider. For once in her life though, she really didn't care what some random in a coffee shop thought about her. All she was concerned about was getting through the day without a hitch. She continued to stare at the young man across from her, almost waiting for him to get up and leave. From the sound of his voice and his air of confidence, she could already tell that that wasn't going to happen.
She gave up, letting out a frustrated sigh and looking back down at her books, trying her hardest to ignore him. Lily knew guys like this, she'd seen a million in her life time. Cockiness, arrogance and no respect for personal boundaries. It was almost like they treated things like a game and nothing more annoyed Lily. His voice in intruded on her personal space again, this time trying to flirt with a waitress who seemed powerless against his charms and she instantly felt bad for the girl. How pathetic could she be? Lily could help but let out the smallest of laughs and a tiny smile crawl across her face. She had to give it to him, he clearly wasn't ashamed of his behavior and as much as it was the total opposite of her, she couldn't help but feel a little jealous of his care free attitude and lack of shame.
Lily sighed once more, this time slamming her book shut on the realization that this guy was never going to shut up. He reminded her of a small child, constantly in search of attention and she knew better than to think she'd get any work done. Before she could protest and tell him that she definitely didn't need him buying her a drink, he was ordering one. "Wow thanks" she gushed sarcastically, feeling a little self conscious now about how she looked. Lily was lucky to be graced with relatively good looks and she'd never been one of those girls that spent hours fretting about how she looked that day. However it wasn;t exactly nice hearing some stranger tell her she basically looked like shit. Though he was probably right, she'd only made the effort of showering and brushing her hair that day. "And here I was thinking you knew how to work the ladies" she raised and eyebrow in reference to the waitress who was so clearly taken away with him.
As the coffee was placed down in front of her, Lils eyed it off, hestitating to even sip it and encourage his behavior more. "I'm here occasionally" she shrugged, "Okay, alot. It's usually a good place to study" Lily explained, not even hiding the hint that he was infact ruining the entire reason she came here. "I've never noticed you here before though" she told him honestly. Then again, when she was in work mode, she wouldn't notice if a ten foot clown walked past her. She smiled at the waitress once more, taking a sip of the drink and too her demise, it was pretty good even if it didn't have the kick in it she was in desperate need of. "I think you've offended her" she mused lightly, nodding her head over in the direction of the waitress, "Maybe you should go make things right/" she suggested, hoping he'd run off to his waitress and she'd be free at last. |

SHE KNOWS HOW TO TREAT A BROTHER RIGHT [style=width: 294px; height: 300px; text-align: justify; color: 272727; font-family: Trebuchet MS; font-size: 9px; overflow: auto;]She stare at him, simply staring as if she was waiting for something. Him to leave? Say something else? He was willing to bet it was the latter of the two, though as per usual, he shrugged it off without a hitch, his facial expression staying the same, seeming uninterested. At her frustrated sigh, a smirk pull at the corner of his mouth as she did her best to ignore him, though as he ordered her a coffee and ignorantly commented on her looks, blissfully so of course, she finally spoke. It was no doubt that she was pretty, whether or not she attempted to do something with herself, or whatever it was that girls did, Rae didn't notice. She was cute, and that's pretty much all he needed as an incentive. At her next words, he lightly scoffed, "Who said I was trying to work my charm on you? I got the desired reaction, thus, I must be doing something right," he blatantly point out, before his gaze found it's way to the waitress. He look back at the blonde in front of him giving her a quick wink, "It's a gift really" he muse.
The waitress brought the extra coffee and set it down in front of the blonde, and Rae watched her eye it, though it went no further then that. He lightly chuckled, taking a sip of his sweet beverage. Not normally one for something so sweet, though it truly wasn't all that sweet, he actually quite enjoyed it. He listen to her words, explaining that she did in fact come here quite often, though she never noticed him. He lightly shrug, "I'm just in and out. Though, and correct me if I'm wrong, if I do recall, your face is always in a book, so I doubt you'd notice much of anything, let alone who came in here," he replied, that signature smirk pulling at his lips as she take a sip of the drink. What was that look? He couldn't help but recognize it, and as if reading her thoughts, "You look like you've had too much caffeine, which will eventually take it's toll. Sugar helps break it up, keeps that kick going," he inform, like it was no big deal. Though of course he did know a think or two about it.
His gaze followed hers to the waitress, who seemed to quickly busy herself as she realized people were staring. Rae chuckled before taking another sip, his fingers wrapping around the mug as if it was a cold night out. He Shrug at her observations, looking uninterested yet again, "Something else caught my eye," he let his easy gaze rest on the blonde, handsome smirk pulling at his lips. ", but by all means, if you feel the need to comfort her, I'll sit back and enjoy the view" he jokingly suggest, a devious glint catching his eye.
notes; psh! don't apologize. i think i'm a wee bit late as well :3

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] WHEN SHE WAS JUST A GIRL, SHE EXPECTED THE WORLD The Words: 458 The Outfit: here The Notesugh worst post, sorry! Lily really didn’t have time for this shit, she was in a constant race against the clock. One that shed implemented and only she seemed to know about. Tired, cranky and stressed, she wasn’t her usual humble self who would have humoured him by being polite and friendly. Instead she was just praying he’d give up and leave. She couldn’t help but smirk and roll her eyes a little as he claimed to have some sort of gift. A gift for what, annoying innocent girls in public places? He thought he was smooth and she had to admit his charms seemed to have some effect on the waitress. Clearly she had different taste to Lily. She liked her men well presented, reliable and polite.
Somehow she’d ended up talking to him. So much for remaining distant enough for him to get the hint. Though she was pretty sure he’d got the hint loud and clear and chose to ignore it. Even in the worst mood she just couldn’t be the bitch she’d intended to be. ”It’s not always in a book” she protested with a little more of her bubbly enthusiasm, ”Sometimes I’ve got my laptop or phone” she added with a small laugh. He obviously had observed her a few times because he was entirely right. This was her spot when the library got too stuffy and her house got too depressing. It did seem a little odd that he’d noticed her though. Lily hated any type of attention really. Surprising since she was the head of nearly every social club and event in Miami. That was for her own sense of achievement though, not for the glory. It was odd knowing that some stranger had been paying attention to her when she was in her own little world. That was the beginning of so many horror movies. ”I guess you’re right though, when I’m doing something important, I hardly pay attention to randoms” she added.
An eyebrow raised in his direction and he commented on her appearance yet again. God, did she look utterly terrible or something? ”Thanks for the advice, I had no idea you were a nutritionist” she commented shortly. Sarcasm wasn’t her strong suit but neither was taking advice from cocky strangers. He may have had appoint though and she couldn’t help but feel self conscious now. If it was that obvious to a stranger, maybe she was pushing herself too hard? Most people would take this as a sign and relax a little but not Lily. College was nearly over and until then, she didn’t care how she looked or felt, as long as everything else she did was absolute perfection. Taking another sip of her drink, she hated to admit it but it did give her a little more energy and she kicked herself for not thinking of it herself. ”I’ve had to pull a few all nights” she admitted, trying to explain why she looked so bad, ”You know what college is like, exams, assignments and all that stuff. Got to keep up some how”.
”Really? That’s your best try?” Lily laughed, warming up to him just a little more now. She was a girl after all and ofcourse she enjoyed a little flirting now and then. The guys she usually flirted with tended to be jocks and upper class business men however. Not creepy guys in coffee shops. ”Like I said, I’m busy. Comforting will have to wait till another day. Maybe one when you’re not around” she replied, looking over at the poor waitress again. ”You know it’s not nice to get girls hopes up like that” she advised him, ”Some how I don’t think you care all that much though”. He didn’t seem like the type to care. More like the type to enjoy games. It didn’t matter though, if he was allowed to offer her advice, she could do the same. Covering her mouth she stifled a yawn back. ”If you’re going to keep distracting me, I may as well introduce myself. I’m Lily’ she told him, staring at him intently.
